iPredator is a personal security software that helps protect your data through encryption, which makes it useful for transferring sensitive files or information over the internet.

You can check out iPredator’s technical details below or go directly to our list of best VPN services

Speed Test

You won’t experience any lags with iPredator when you’re only doing some simple browsing, but when you’re streaming multimedia or downloading large files, you may experience some connectivity issues. Your connection will be more stable the closer you are to Switzerland, Sweden, or Austria, which is where their major servers are located.

IPredator Pricing

IPredator’s pricing is actually its strongest point, with 15 euros being enough to cover your subscription for 3 whole months. It lacks features, though. So you need to keep that in mind if you like your security software to come with all the bells and whistles.

Client Setup and Usage

We’re not novices when it comes to these things, but even we had a little bit of difficulty setting up iPredator, as it seems to be one of the more complex security softwares to install. The fact that you need to still activate the service after establishing a connection, as well as configure the entire account before being able to use the program normally adds to the difficulty.

Operating Systems and Protocols Supported

IPredator has support for both Windows and Mac OSX, but only supports PPTP. OpenVPN and SSL are not yet supported, although they may add it in the future.

Server Locations

IPredator has several datacenters strategically located in Austria, Sweden, and Switzerland. Unfortunately, there is no way to switch between countries manually. Their client will choose the server for you automatically.

Against the Competition

IPredator originally gained a lot of popularity because it was the service offered by the Pirate Bay, but the truth is the service is very poor in comparison with other VPN servers available in the market.

Another interesting bit is that iPredator was originally created as a response to the IPRED law in Sweden, which allows copyright holders and federal officials to legally obtain the personal information of copyright infringement suspects.

Conclusion

While iPredator was a pioneer and deserves respect for going against a restrictive law, we can’t recommend it to people who aren’t based in Sweden. If you need a better VPN service provider, you can check out our list of top 10 VPN providers.
